The following link provides information on the Food Allergy Guidelines as outlined in Public Act 96-0349 that was effective January 1, 2011.
The Act mandates that all children with food allergies must have an Emergency Action Plan and a 504 Plan or Individualized Health Care Plan (IHCP).
An in-service training program for school personnel who work with students must be conducted by persons with expertise in anaphylactic reactions and management every two years. It is recommended that a medical emergency response drill be conducted twice a year.
