Section 27-8.1 (6) of the school code explains all of the details of the compliance reporting. ILGA – Compiled Statutes 27-8.1 (8)
Compliance reporting involves providing data to the state on the number of students who have submitted the required documentation for physical exams, immunizations, dental exams, and eye exams.
Compliance is reported to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) electronically through the IWAS (ISBE Web Application Security System). Here is the link to IWAS.
The following link gives instructions on gaining access to the IWAS system. Once you create an account and your superintendent or designee approves your access, you will be able to enter data to complete a report. Click for instructions
The deadline for submitting compliance information for physicals and immunizations is November 15th. The data for physicals is submitted in the same report as the immunizations. Vision and dental data must be submitted by June 30th. Once you enter the data in the IWAS system, an administrator in your district is responsible for approving the data.
Compliance with physical and immunizations requirements can negatively affect the amount of state aid provided to a school district. State aid can be withheld if the district compliance level is below 90%.
